Portland Bill Visitor Centre
The new exhibition contains a number of interactive displays and historical artefacts and offers the opportunity to encounter a stormy sea journey in the exhilarating zone ‘Into The Dark’. Visitors can also climb the lighthouse and see for miles along the beautiful Dorset Coastline, the world famous Jurassic Coast and out to the treacherous Portland Race.
Portlands Olympic Rings
Weymouth and Portland's Olympic Rings were officially unveiled on 20 June 2012. The Rings have been carved by local stonemasons using world-renowned Portland limestone. The Rings stand 2.5 metres tall, 1 metre deep, 3.8 metres long. The Rings provide an iconic and locally distinctive welcome for visitors. Not to be missed!
Southern Tip Pulpit Rock
Lying near the southern tip of the Isle of Portland, Dorset is Pulpit Rock. It is an artificial rock stack jutting out from the rocky coast at Portland Bill. The stack is not a natural geological formation, but was created in the 1870’s when a natural arch of rock was cut away by workmen from the Bill Quarry. Well worth a visit.
